 Hello Guys, How are you all. We are back with again our favorite column Talk of Indian Cinema on 4th Weekend of November. Indian Film Industry Always focus on our culture and region and specially our festival. Every aspect of the industry and all the films are soup without bowl until it don’t have music. We have many films which had no songs in the films but yet that film contains background music in it and it makes unique and entertaining. Today we talk something about our music industry.

 

The Indian Music Industry (IMI) is a trust that represents the recording industry distributors in India. It was founded on February 28, 1936, as Indian Phonographic Industry (IPI). It is the 2nd oldest music industry organization in the world that was involved in protecting copyrights of music producers and supporting growth of music entertainment industry. In 1994, it was renamed as Indian Music Industry (IMI) and represented India at the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). It is also registered with the West Bengal Societies Registration Act. All major music labels in India are part of this association. Record companies like Saregama India Ltd. (HMV), Universal Music (India), Tips Industries LimitedSony Music Entertainment (India), Virgin RecordsAditya MusicTimes MusicZee Music Company and T-Series several other prominent international, national and regional labels are part of the IMI. The IMI represents over 75% of all legal music sales in India.

IMI has registerd office in Kolkata. It other branches in delhi ,banglore and Hyderabad. This work on copyrights and other protection against privacy rights of music. The industry dominated by cassata during 90s. at the time of 90s it indian sales are around 180 millions and it was second globally rank , first was USA. In the first decade of 2000 it decrease and it was around 50 millions. Later on it replaced by CDs , DVDs  and day by day it replaced with digital streaming and online platforms.

 

As per the indian music market in last 40 years top 1 is Aap Ka Suroor Album by Himesh Reshmiya . it globally sales 55,000,000 in 2006. Second is Aashiqui by Nadeem Shravan & Young Tarang by Zoheb Hasan according to 1990 , 1983 and its 40,00,000 & 20,00,000. On third place Jatin Lalit’s DDLJ & Jawahar ji s  Bolo Ta Ra Ra. Which is around 20,000,000. On 5th place A.R.Raheman’s  Bombay in 1995 which is around 15,000,000.
