As we all know since march 2020 all the cinemas and multiplexes were closed due to this COVID-19. Last few days some of the multiplex opened but still not as much opened. In this COVID situation we all move to OTT platforms for new Entertainment. So we talk how OTT Platform works.

Today we all have a smartphone in this digital era. So we can easily get all latest entertainment as per our interest. As per latest survey people who use OTT services are increased every day. We all habituate with OTT but how many of knows the What is OTT? Do you know its full name. lets talk on it. OTT stands for Over The Top. In common terms its like cable TV but its platform that delivers entertainment over the internet.we all heard and many of use this famous platform like Netflix, prime, Hotstar, Disney+, Alt Balaji, Zee5, MxPlayer. OTT provide wide range of content, but its not possible to that we get every content for a single platform the answer is no because its based on content , range , reachability , price and ads. There are many different features behind it. We have many questions that how OTT earn? How we earn if our films or webseries we put on it. For that first you need to understand business model of OTT. These OTT business model known as VOD.it stands for Video On Demand. Every OTT works on three VOD as mention below.

(i)SVOD

(ii)TVOD

(iii)ADVOD

Let’s talk from the first one SVOD. It stands for Subscription Video On Demand, in common terms it’s a subscription module where user can subscribe the services and access the media content. Fee can be variant based on company and OTT Platforms. The Subscription fee can be has different criteria based on weekly, monthly , yearly. This subscription can be automatically renewed if the end user won’t cancel or auto subscription. Company who use this model generate their revenue based on subscription. there is far greater freedom to opt out, as consumers aren’t tied into a long-term contract. Example of it like Netflix, Amazon Prime , Hotstar.

Second is ADVOD and its stand for Advertising Video on Demand. its cost decided based on no.of ads while streaming the media. No.of ads running while stream the media. OTT Platform taken cost from the Ad Agency to run ads on OTT and out of these ads they generate production costs. Mostly ADVOD is free to end user because they can collect money from the Ads agency . its like television broadcasting user have to sit and watch advertisements. Examples of it like YouTube

The last model is TVOD. Its stands for Transactional Video On Demand.is like PPV. Pay Per View. In common terms its like paid content of you tube. If you have to watch particular content than you have to pay for it. Which is we do in our broadcasting television for specific channel specific costs. Examples of it like google playstore, itunes etc.

Well its just a little byte of OTT. OTT is wider platform and many things included it.
